Solar Turbines to Build Plant in Czech Republic
Industrial gas turbine producer Solar Turbines, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., has signed a preliminary deal to build a plant for overhaul repairs of its products in Zatec, Czech Republic.
The company has several thousand turbines operating in the region that need to undergo mandatory inspections and overhauls after 30 000 hours in operation. The plant is planned to service Solar Turbine customers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The repair plant is expected to create about 450 jobs when it reaches full capacity by 2020.
